The development of chiral π-conjugated liquid crystals: Impact of sidechains and π-conjugated core upon the liquid-crystallinity and functions

Abstract

We have focused on chiral π-conjugated liquid crystals to study bulk photovoltaic effects in ferroelectric liquid crystal phases. In this study, we synthesized several chiral π-conjugated compounds to evaluate their physical properties. We will discuss the influence of the sidechains and π-conjugated core upon the liquid-crystalline and electric properties.
