Abstract

Topological defects in nematic liquid crystals are interesting for optical applications. Here we study the Talbot self-healing effect obtained from a regular array of umbilical defects which is self-organized by an electric field. By adjusting the distance from the sample cell, we observe that a uniform pattern can be reconstructed at the Talbot plane. In this presentation, we study the propagation of light and the quality of beams.
