Azimuthal angle distributions of a liquid crystal lens with ring electrodes

Abstract

Three-dimensional liquid crystal (LC) molecular orientations of an LC lens with a highly resistive layer coated on the ring electrodes were reported. Fresnel lens type refractive index has been realized by adjusting the applied voltages across the patterned electrodes and the common electrode. In this study, the azimuthal angle distribution of the LC lens with Fresnel lens type refractive index are calculated and the lens properties are evaluated when elastic constants of the LC material are changed.
