Abstract

It is difficult to control the orientation of the channel structures of hexagonal structured materials. In this study, we synthesized ordered mesoporous carbon with a hexagonal structure. The addition of Mg(NO3)2 to the precursor induces a hexagonal liquid crystal phase, and the precursor reorients its channels under the alternating electric field. We also found that the direction of the hexagonal channels in the precursors coincides that of the alternating electric fields.
