Abstract

Liquid crystal (LC) device is one of the strong candidates for high performance THz elements because of its controllability with low drive voltage and low power consumption. Previously, we reported that hydrogen-bonded LC have excellent propertied in the THz band. We also reported that orientation pattern appears by applying high voltage to the hydrogen-bonded LC cells. We believe that this orientation pattern is applicable for diffractive devices in the THz band. In this study, we report on the diffraction properties of electrically induced orientation patterns in the hydrogen-bonded LC.
