Superstructure in the Ferrielectric Phase

Abstract

In order to investigate the structure in the SmCγ^* phase, we measured the small angle X-ray diffraction by using the synchrotron radiation. We observed the diffraction peak corresponding to the three times of the layer spacing, and it indicates that the structure in the ferrielectric SmCγ^* phase has a unit of three layers, as suggested so far.
