Abstract
Based on the Stokes parameter method (SPM), we develop a 2D Stokes parameter method for measurements of 2D cell thickness and twist angle distributions in twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal cells. A 2D SPM system is set up by use of a polarizing microscope, in which the 2D distributions of cell thickness and twist angle of some sample cells are measured. Some preliminary experimental results demonstrate the 2D SPM's validity. Finally, the measurement accuracy of the 2D SPM system is discussed.
