Abstract
In order to investigate the segmental motion of S-MHPOBC, we measured the 13C-NMR spin-lattice relaxation time (T1), by means of the inversion recovery method. The temperature dependence of T1 obey the Arrhenius type. T1 for most of arbons show continuous temperature dependence. On the other hand , in case of the chiral carbon, temperature dependence of T1 in SmA is different from that in SmCA*. This result suggests that the segmental motion of the chiral carbon changes under the influence of some kinds of molecular interaction changing at the phase transition.
