Abstract
The liquid crystalline photoconductor, 2-(4'-octylphenyl)-6-dodecyloxynaphthalene is designed in order to realize ambipolar carrier transport, which has not been realized in organic amorphous solids except some binary material systems. This material exhibits SmB and SmA phases, in which ambipolar carrier transport was observed. The hole and electron mobilities are almost same in each phase, and are 1.6X10-3 and 2.5X10-4 cm2/Vs, respectively.
