Abstract
We have determined second order complex nonlinear-susceptibility tensor of a liquid crystal(LC) monolayer absorbed on a second harmonic(SH)-active polyimide(PI) film. In order to separate the SH signal of LC from that of PI, we have adopted the interference method using an SH-active LB film as a local oscillator. Each component of the complex susceptibility tensor has been analyzed with use of in a 4 layer model. We found that each component actually possesses the phase relations.
