Abstract
Object ellipsis in English has been studied as lexically governed phenomena. But there is another type of object ellipsis in English, broad in the class of verbs to which it applies and driven by a certain motivation. The object which is omitted by this process behaves like a pronoun or a definite description, not a variable or a reflexive. And its distribution is governed by four hierarchies, which will be reduced to the language user's psychological proximity to expressions.
