Abstract
This article presents research and development matters of mobility sophisticated by information technology (IT) from the viewpoint of the systems innovation theory. Firstly, a definition of intelligent transport systems (ITS), the significance of mobility, an overview of ITS for the past two decades, the three stages of evolution as well as a summary of the systems innovation theory are mentioned. Secondly, based on the above matters, research and development on mobility related fields are discussed. Lastly, the possibility of the micro mobility is argued in anticipation in the super aging society from the viewpoint of the quality of spatial comfort (QoSC).
