Abstract
Current high school biology textbooks and supplementary materials introduce biotechnology experiments such as DNA analysis using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. However, these experiments have not yet been widely adopted in general high schools because of limitations such as class time. In this study, an experimental protocol including the PCR method that could be conducted within two 50-minute class periods was implemented in a high school biology class. The results suggested that participating students developed a greater understanding of and interest in related fields.
