Abstract

We could readily pulp the white lauan wood by sulphite process. Although lauan wood is not used formerly in the manufacture of papers, it is probable that, in the near future, owing to the tremendous increase in the production of coniferous wood pulp, it will come into more prominence in pulp-making. Unfortunately, lauan fibers are shorter and have more “wet” nature than the coniferous wood pulp, then care must be taken to make pulp from lauan wood by sulphite process.
