Date of correction: November 27, 2008Reason for correction: -Correction: ABSTRACTDetails: Wrong : Five specimens of the cotton cellulose tissue paper were nitrated by dipping 10g of each dried sample cut into 25cm2 respectively into 800 g of the mixed acid of the composition of HNO3 17.93%, H2SO4 62.85%, H2O 19.22% at 30°C for 100 minutes with a regular agitation, and the properties of the tissue papers and their nitrated products were determined, the results of which being as shown in follows: (I) (II) (1) In the nitration, the tissue paper, the cellulose of which is modified colloidally and chemically, gives a loss in the yield of the nitrated product, but this loss can be saved by making the texture of the paper close. (2) The mechanical quality of the film of the cellulose nitrate is poorer as the colloidal and chemical degradation of cellulose is deeper. The maximum elongation however is obtained when the cellulose is modified to a less extent, because perhaps the dispersion of the cellulose nitrate in its solution is higher. (3) The colour of the tissue paper becomes deeper by nitration and the degree of the colouration is remarkable as the modification of cellulose is deeper. The treatment with oxalic acid or with bleaching powder solution is not, so effective.
