Liquid crystalline properties of copolyester having dimethoxyphenylene groups, poly (oxy 2, 6-dimethoxy-1, 4-phenylene-oxy-4, 4′-biphenyldicarbonyl-co-terephthaloyl) were studied by polarizing microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The typical nematic pattern was observed at 600 K by polarizing microscopic measurement. The copolyester was found to form the glassy liquid crystalline state when the sample was quenched from the liquid crystalline state.
