Abstract
It is essential to understand the actual characteristics of waves in the sea for the safety and sea keeping
quality of fishing boats during operation. From this point of view, We proposed a simple method to forecast wind
waves generated on water current.
In this paper we discussed the accuracy of this method by using data measured in Funka bay. The results
showed that the forecasted wave height agreed well with observed height. However, the forecasted value may be
potentially affected by the occurrence of swell and by the fetch and therefore these parameters should be taken
into consideration in future attempts to improve the accuracy of wave height forecasting.
