Abstract
Following the first report [Folia pharmacol. japon. 45, 106-110 (1950)] the general toxicity of cyclohexylchlororesorcinol (C), n-hexylchlororesorcinol (HC), and n-octylchlororesorcinol (O) in mice and their irritant actions on the mucous membrane of rabbits' intestine and on the corneal membrane of rabbits were investigated using hexylresorcinol (H) as a control. The following conclusions were made. (1) LD 50 (mg/10 g per os) : H=6.17, C= 7.00, HC=7.84, and O=8.67. (2) Irritant action on the mucous membrane of intestine : H> C> HC> O. (3) Irritant action on the corneal membrane : H>C=HC>.O
