Abstract
Cogeneration systems (CGS) including such as fuel cells and micro-gas-turbines etc. are going to be installed in electric power system. CGS can deliver both of electric power and thermal steam with high power utility as a whole. This report discusses how much the power loss can be reduced if CGSs are optimally located at the distributed nodes of local commercial areas. A solution method using genetic algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal pipeline and power source arrangements of CGSs for minimizing the power loss and utility cost. The proposed method has been applied to simulate the CGS model in a local commercial area and compared with all search method to evaluate the performance.
