Abstract
We applied fuzzy control for controlling the waste feed volume for a waste gasification melting incinerator. We tested level control to keep a constant value for the waste hopper level. Conventional level control was performed more or less on the operator's 'rule of thumb,' but when we replaced it with fuzzy control. The superior rating was determined using chaos analysis, UPO (Unstable Periodic Orbits) analysis and process value dispersion related to CO average value. With the implementation of fuzzy control, we learned that the process value dispersion related to CO average value was superior to conventional control methods. Additionally, chaos and UPO analysis revealed that orbit stability is excellent when using fuzzy control and that it lacked the specific orbit seen when using conventional control methods.
