Abstract
A modular network SOM (mnSOM) proposed by authors is an extension and a generalization of a conventional SOM in which each nodal unit is replaced by a module such as a neural network. The mnSOM has the
learning algorithm in which both the supervised and the unsupervised learning are combined. Thus, each module of the mnSOM implements the supervised learning, while, roles in the modules are allocated self-organizingly. In this paper, the architecture and the algorithm of the mnSOM are shown, moreover, the applications are presented.
