Abstract
Recently, the opportunity to use a map database has been increasing. However, the map database displayed on the Internet map or a car-navigation system is not the newest thing. It is because renewal of a map is performed only about once per year also in the center of the city. A few of the renewal of a map is in the difficulty of the work for carrying out renewal of a map. Therefore, in this research, as fundamental research for performing renewal of a map, the signboard domain of a convenience store is extracted from an input picture, and distinction of a store. A chain store like a convenience store has much substitution. And since name recognition is high, it is possible to become a landmark in the case of operation. Therefore, I think it in demand to update the information.
