Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method for texture mapping to 3D polygon in a map, which is a task in the process of 3D map construction, with in-vehicle camera images. The in-vehicle camera images are an image sequence obtained every constant interval with the in-vehicle camera sideways. As prerequisites, it is assumed the 3D polygon map can be obtained beforehand, and the position and the direction of the camera are given. The procedure of the proposed method is as follows. At first, the polygon to be mapped is selected based on the 3D restoration using an image sequence. And then, the texture region is specified through the projection of 3D coordinates on the selected polygon onto the image. Finally, the specified texture region is pasted on the wall of the target polygon. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through the experiment using actual in-vehicle camera images.
