Abstract

Recently, in order to improve habitability and/or structural safety, control devices based on passive, active, and semi-active control methods are installed to real buildings. The authors have already proposed an intelligent fuzzy optimal and active control system, i.e.; IFOACS, based on intelligent systems, and the effectiveness of proposed system is verified by results of simulations and shaking table tests. In those systems, Active Mass Driver (AMD) system is employed as an activation method of control forces. To perform effective active control, settings of structural characteristics of AMD become important, and optimization methods of AMD have also proposed using Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Immune Algorithm (IA). In this paper, a new evaluation function focused on absolute maximal response acceleration is employed instead of relative maximal response displacement from the foundation and its control effect is discussed.
