Abstract

This paper analyzes factors to affect escape from web sites, taking site properties and personal features into account. Down load time and layout conditions are adopted as site properties, and interest, stress, and Type A behavior pattern as personal features. Frequency of escape is investigated by experiments, and personal features and evaluation for web sites are collected by questionnaires. The relationship between scores of the Type A behavior pattern test and frequency of escape is analyzed by the quantification method II. It is shown that subjects having a high score of the Type A behavior pattern test tend to escape from a web site if they are less interested in it, if down load time is longer, and if the layout condition is better. Also, there seems to be the possibility that relief of stress causes escape from web sites.
