A Study on Acceleration of calculation for SOM learning algorithm by using GPU

Abstract

Floating-point arithmetic performance of GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) keeps increasing and many researchers are trying to use GPU for general purpose numerical calculation(GPGPU). In this paper, we discuss how to implement SOM learning algorithm in GPU and degree of speedup in execution of SOM learning process by using GPU.
