Abstract
This paper proposes an interactive interface for mining item categories for supporting association rule analysis. Although an association rule is known to be one of famous data mining techniques, it is difficult to find interesting rules from a large amount of rules extracted from huge database. In order to solve this problem, this paper focuses on an association rule, of which constituent is an item category. The proposed interface employs information visualization techniques, which supports a user to interactively find a new and useful category from a database. The usefulness of the interface is evaluated through an experiment with test participants.
