Abstract
Recently, the bridge management in Japan has become very important and urgent, because the number of existing bridges requiring repair or replacement has increased. For the rational bridge maintenance, it is effective to utilize Information Communication Technology. In several local governments in Japan, various bridge management systems have been introduced for the establishment of rational bridge maintenance. To use the bridge management system, it is necessary to input bridge inventory and inspection data into the system. However, it is quite troublesome to input such data if the data are recorded in paper form. Moreover, some errors may occur in the transfer process from paper records into the digital data. In this study, an attempt is made to develop a data input system of bridge inspection results using digital pen. Using the proposed system, it is possible to easily input inspection histories written on paper with accurate and reliable way. Several examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed system.
