Abstract
Flood hazard map have been provided by local government to make potentially dangerous area and safe shelter widely known. However, hazard map is often made available as printed copies and not easy for users to ensure safety and hazardous information on the map because the presentation space is limited and relevant information is distributed around the map. We proposed a method of creating explanatory expressions by means of sense expansion patterns, in order to facilitate understanding relevant information and appropriate evacuation behavior. In this paper, we report results of a preliminary evaluation conducted an experiment with questionnaire to investigate the findability of explanatory notes created by our method.
