Abstract
Garbage in the garbage hopper is dumped by large crane and gradually sucked into the hopper. The dumped garbage is conveyed to an incinerator. The crane operator dump garbage into the hopper every 15 to 20 minutes. If the dumping timing is improper, good burning condition in the incinerator can not be maintained. So, the operator need to carefully watch the camera images. The level sensor such as ultrasound sensors and infrared sensors can warn the operator when the amount of garbage in the hopper is not enough. We have developed the level sensor utilizing the surveillance camera and FCM classifier. The camera based sensor is more accurate than the ultrasound sensor. The camera and computer already installed can be used only with the application software we developed.
