Abstract
Nowadays, video distribution services have spread in our daily lives and many people enjoy them. However, it is not easy to find his/her favorite videos in the conventional video selection systems. Besides, once he/she finds them, he/she is apt to continue to select videos of the same category. As a result, it is difficult to find the favorite videos of various categories. Non-planar touch pad is a new input device that is developed very recently. The non-planar touch pad makes it possible for users to show their intuitive ideas as compared to planar touch pad. In this study, the authors propose a video selection system that provides chance encounters with new kinds of videos using the non-planar touch pads and compare it with the conventional systems. The results of experiments show that the users of the proposed system find their favorite videos not only in the usual category but also in new categories that they have scarcely seen before.
