Abstract
One of the problems on human-robot interaction is how to design robot appearance. It is said that robot appearance can affect the emotions of people who communicate with robots. The "uncanny valley" proposed by Mori is a famous phenomena with regard to the robot appearance. Thus it is need and important to avoid "uncanny valley" to design a robot. In order to design a robot which most people prefer or love, this study proposes to adopt "Moe (in Japanse)" as an design element. However "Moe" is a word of ambiguous concept and it isn't simple task to utilize it for robot-appeaance design. So we built a design system to investigate and clarify the meaning of "Moe". The system is based on Interactive Genetic Algorithm (IGA).
