Abstract
The standard tools for using the graphical user interface on a desktop computer have always been the keyboard and the mouse. However, to use these tools, the user must home, move the hand from one device to the other. In this study, we developed an input device which can handle both character input and graphical pointing input. This allows the user to begin typing or pointing immediately instead of homing. This paper compares the difference between our device and conventional input methods to demonstrate the effectiveness of using this device.
