Abstract
Foreign tourists who come to Japan increase in number these days. However, it is not easy to have many foreign tourists in areas that are not introduced in guidebooks much. Meanwhile, foreign tourists who like to visit such areas can obtain information for such areas on the Web. However, there might be a problem on translation accuracy for information described in a variety of languages. In this study we propose a search system for sightseeing places using a map of their impressions that even foreign tourists can intuitively understand. Specifically, impression data to many sightseeing places obtained from many tourists are visualized as an impression map using a self-organizing map. In addition, we ask users of the system about usability of the system and so on to show its basic usefulness, and then describe the future work.
