Agglomerative hierarchical clustering using core points for directed networks

Abstract

Clustering user structures in SNS has been attracted interests of many researchers. Nevertheless, available clustering techniques are relatively poor, and there is much room for further studies. The aim of this paper is to propose new method based on extensions of traditional agglomerative hierarchical algorithms to directed graphs. The proposed methods moreover use core points studied in DBSCAN. We also propose the use of core points in methods using the modularity index, a typical is Newman's method. Numerical experiments based on real data from SNS are shown.
