Abstract
In order to support the safe walking of visually impaired, there are previous studies to detect steps and/or stairs using camera images. Depth image acquired from RGB-Depth image sensor typified by Microsoft Kinect sensor have distance information directly on the image, so it has advantages to recognize the surrounding environment easier. However, it cannot obtain the correct distance information under strong light like a sunlight, it is not possible to use outdoors. This study proposes a method to compensate for its shortcomings by utilizing interpolation with RGB image.
