Two-Dimensional Trust Representation and State Transitions

Abstract

In this study we discuss how to represent trust values. Two metrics of “trust” and “distrust” are introduced to represent a trust value of an agent, and by applying the idea of the reverse-item averaging method we obtain an actual degree of trust on the agent. The behavior of an agent can be modeled with a state machine, and we can define an extended state augmented with the trust value of the agent. We discuss the transitions of trust values with the extended states.
