Abstract

The goal of this study is to develop a method that can detect the areas of texts subjects feel difficult-to-read by analyzing their eye movements when they read the texts on a PC monitor. The gaze heat map is one method to detect the difficult-to-read areas. Using the gaze heat map can detect areas where the gaze stays longer than a typical fixation duration as difficult-to-read areas. Since the reading speed of sentences depends on the subject, a method that determines the threshold according to the reading speed of each subject will be need. Therefore, we focused on the reading speed of each subject and investigated the relationship between threshold of fixation duration and detection accuracy.
