Abstract

Local governments formulate policies to ensure that local residents can lead healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives. Meanwhile, rankings of local governments using various objective indicators, such as the happiness ranking, are also published. Fukui Prefecture ranks first in the happiness rankings, but its residents do not feel this in their daily lives. Fukui Prefecture is conducting a questionnaire survey of its residents to realize the ”Long-term Vision for Fukui Prefecture,” which includes questions about well-being. In this paper, we analyze the well-being-related data from the Fukui Prefecture residents survey and the residents’ awareness.
