Abstract

Cognitive Processes arising from the interaction between the body and the environment should be elucidated to support patients’ adaptation to dynamic environments. In particular, the reconstruction of body image is a critical challenge in cognitive rehabilitation for individuals with cerebrovascular disorders. This study presents a rehabilitation support system for spatial cognition assessment that combines a posture-adaptive robotic rehabilitation chair with an immersive virtual reality (VR) system. Furthermore, we present a set of experiments designed to investigate how postural changes affect spatial cognition, using the Subjective Visual Vertical (SVV) task implemented in the developed system.
