Abstract

In the "Guidelines for the Treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders 2020" by the Japan Temporomandibular Joint Society, pharmacotherapy includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetaminophen preparations, central muscle relaxants, tricyclic antidepressants, and Kampo medicines. Kampo medicines include Kakkonto and Shakuyakukanzoto. Many types of Kampo medicines are prescribed for temporomandibular joint disorders in dental clinics.
