Abstract

Japanese society has faced in the serious concerns of rapid aging and significantly low birth rate in re- cent years. The purpose of this study is to analyze factors that affect elderly workers’ motivation in their post-retirement employment . This study reviews the attempt to do two surveys for a building maintenance company which belongs to labor-intensive industry. The author implemented two methods, and the first method was “Thank you card”, and a second method was “an employee awards program for the best and brightest staff”. Final results show that desires for approval strongly connect and affect to the motivation for elderly workers.
