Abstract
We report a case of follicular lymphoma in the rectum. A 77-year-old man was referred to our hospital for further examination following a positive fecal occult blood test. Colonoscopy showed a flat elevated lesion 15 mm in diameter at the rectum. Histological examination of the specimen obtained by forceps biopsy led to the suspicion of follicular lymphoma. Intraluminal ultrasonography revealed a mass having a hypoechoic area in the 3rd layer of the wall. The tumor was limited to the rectum without any metastasis. We performed endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for both diagnosis and treatment. Histopathological assessment of the resected specimens revealed that the tumor was a follicular lymphoma.
