Abstract
We reviewed the technique of endoscopic large papillary balloon dilation following endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES), for which a small to medium incision of the major papilla is preferable. The size of the large balloon depends on the size of the gallstones and bile-duct diameter. Those who have large stones of more than 13 to 15 mm across the major axis and buildup stones are eligible. In contrast, those who have hemorrhagic bleeding and obvious biliary strictures should be excluded. Balloon inflation and deflation should be performed gradually.
