Abstract
We report herein on a 40-year-old man in whom contrast-enhanced computed tomography demonstrated a sheet-like low-density area forming a groove and stricture in the second portion of the duodenum. A cystic lesion measuring 32 × 20 mm was observed in the groove, and therefore the condition was diagnosed as groove pancreatitis with a pseudo-cyst. Conservative treatment was carried out, but the pseudo-cyst became enlarged. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided pancreatic cyst drainage (EUS-PCD) was carried out, and this resulted in reduction of the pseudo-cyst and resolution of the groove inflammation. The patient was discharged 37 days after EUS-PCD. Thereafter, no recurrence was observed for one year. Our experience with this rare case of groove pancreatitis, known to be an intractable disease, suggests that treatment with EUS-PCD can be effective.
