Abstract
The flexible part of a colonoscope can be straightened. As you manipulate the angle knob with the scope bended, the cable inside will be pulled, then due to the elasticity on the flexible part the scope straightens.
At the same time, the distal end part of the scope advances. The “flick method” is a procedure to insert the scope using elasticity.
In other words, the flick method serves to insert the scope by advancing it with left hand-manipulation of the angle knob. In order to acquire this method, it is necessary to train both the left thumb and the ring finger so that you can instantaneously manipulate the scope in the way you want. The right hand is serves just for supporting the left hand. The innominate groove would indicate the scope direction.
As you manipulate the angle knob toward the vertical direction to the innominate groove, the scope will naturally advance into the intralumen. In this regard, you should de-air the intestine as much as possible to collapse it. The arrival rate to the ileocecal valve is 96.1%, and the average arrival time is 6 min and 06 seconds.
A case of perforation has never been reported so far.
During the inspection, you should entertain the subject with a fun conversation and never use any painkiller or tranquillizer.
