A 23-year-old woman with a dissociative disorder was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, where she accidentally swallowed an AA battery after eating. An emergency EGD was performed owing to the ingestion, but a large amount of food residue in the stomach obscured the battery. To address this, we first removed the endoscope and used an endoscopic loop net to grasp a small magnet through the forceps channel. The scope was then reinserted, and the magnet was gently maneuvered towards the food residue, allowing the battery to adhere to the magnet for extraction. In cases of foreign object retrieval buried in food debris, the poor visibility often complicates treatment. The use of a magnet in this case proved to be an effective method for removing foreign objects hidden in gastric residue during endoscopic procedures.
