Peripancreatic fluid collection is a general term for fluid collection lesions that occur because of chronic pancreatitis, tumors, or local complications after pancreatitis, and interventional treatment is required in case of infection. EUS-guided peripancreatic fluid collection drainage (EUS-PFD) is a standard treatment technique with a high clinical success rate for pancreatic pseudocysts containing fluid components. On the other hand, additional endoscopic necrosectomy is effective in cases of walled-off necrosis (WON) that contain necrotic tissues. A lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) is an innovative device that improves the efficiency of EUS-PFD and additional procedures and particularly suitable for difficult WON treatment. This article describes in detail the indications for LAMS, basic technique of LAMS placement, and post-placement management and shows its advantages and issues.
