Abstract

This study discusses the trends in lawsuits involving gastrointestinal endoscopy, medical standards, informed consent, and future medical lawsuits, especially those involving AI. In medical lawsuits, issues often arise regarding whether the medical care provided meets medical standards and explanations are sufficient. Regarding medical standards, medical care must be provided in accordance with clinical guidelines. Explanations should be accurate and understandable. Unfortunately, medical procedures aimed at improving a patient’s condition can cause trouble. It is necessary to constantly update knowledge and techniques to the latest version and consider the content and methods of explanation to the patient to increase patient satisfaction. Better medical care is the best way to prevent lawsuits.
