The author has reached the following results after experimental and clinical observations, concerning the relationship between arteriosclerotic diseases of the gastric mucosa by studying mainly the pictures fo gastritis through the gastro camera. 1) Experimental arteriosclerosis on the dogs revealed the atrophy of the gastric mucosa by gastro-camera which corresponded to the degree of the arteriosclerosis. The pathological findings also verified this. 2) By the hypertensive cases which were found at the time of mass clinical examination more gastritis especially atrophic changes were noticed comparing to normotensive cases. These findings were similar by the hospital cases and most prominent by hypertensive diabetic cases. 3) By the long standing and advanced arteriosclerosis the atrophy of the gastric mucosa was also prominent and gradually hyperplasia was set in. Gastric biopsy also revealed the atrophy together with fibroid changes of the propergastric glands which showed more and stronger tendency by diabetic cases. 4) Thus it can be concluded that the arteriosclerosis an important factor for the develo pment of the atrophic gastritis. The disturbance of the circulation due to the gastricarteri osclerosis results in the degenerative changes of the gastric mucosa.
